When did you start writing/producing music - and what or who were your early passions and influences?

Late 70s. First recorded pieces in 1980. At the time I was strongly influenced by 'real' sound environments (field recordings).

What do you personally consider to be the incisive moments in your artistic work and/or career?

A crucial one was the extended immersion into rainforest sonic environments; initially Brazil and Costa Rica.

How would you describe and rate the music scene and sound potential of the city you are currently living in and how important is it for your own work?

Not important at all. In fact, I do not 'live' in any city or any other specific location now.

What are currently your main compositional- and production-challenges?

Dramatically extended time compositional structures. Also, cryptic sonic detail, but this has been an essential part of my work for many years now.

How do you see the relationship between sound and composition?

My compositions unfold from sound; not merely made with or through sounds.

What do you usually start with when working on a new piece?

Sound environmental recordings I've made myself.

How do you see the relationship between location and sound and how do you select locations of interest to your work?

A combination of desirable and feasible.
